Audius Launches Marketplace for Direct Artist-Fan Transactions
The global peer-to-peer network gives musicians autonomy over how their work circulates and provides novel income opportunities.
Audius, a blockchain music platform, is beta testing a new marketplace allowing direct payments between fans and artists.
Through the marketplace, Audius' 6 million users can now support their favourite musicians via credit card purchases of USDC currency. Artists receive instant payouts and set sale prices for streams or downloads. Fans can optionally pay above the listed cost, with a 1:1 match of $AUDIO tokens awarded through an incentives program. A number of independent labels also joined to increase revenue streams.
Artists gain sole control over distribution and monetization. Select early participants in the program include Kato on the Track, Matt Ox and The Glitch Mob, alongside more than 40 other artists.
Audius aims to deepen relationships through direct engagement outside traditional catalogues. Powered by its $AUDIO crypto, the global peer-to-peer network gives musicians autonomy over how their work circulates and novel income opportunities.
